Competitive shooters require a very specific set of features to stay ahead of the competition, and The Golden Eagle hits the mark (pun intended). The 15-60x magnification, fine reticle, and positive and repeatable tracking are perfect for fine tuning that record shot. Plus, its relatively light weight—29.5 oz.—allows shooters to adhere to strict competition weight limits.

Whether you’re interested in Rimfire Bench Rest, Centerfire Bench Rest, NRA High-Power or F-Class competitions, this is the scope for you.

Mr.
I am reluctant to rate the Golden Eagle fairly for fear that the price will double. However, for those of you who have been considering this scope, it is the real deal for competition. I use it for F-Class Open 600 and 1000 yard shooting with my 6mm Dasher and I shot it one season with a 25 Creedmoor at 600 yards. I bought it to replace a Nightforce NSX 8-32x because I wanted more magnification for a finer aim. I must admit that I was a bit shocked when I started using it as I thought I would have to pay over $3000 for that level of performance. I've been able to shoot with clarity on 60x most of the time. I use a scope tube to defray heat mirage from the barrel and it handles downfield mirage well. The objective aperture ring that comes with it has been a handy tool and it really works to minimize downfield mirage. I've haven't missed the zero stop because I rarely spin the elevation turret. It is zeroed at 600 and that is where it stays unless I need to spin up to 1000 yards for the day. On 60x, I do lose the visual image once or twice in a match; probably due to a smaller eye pupil however I've been able to quickly acquire the image and shoot just fine. I don't mind that it tells me that my cheek weld is off before I shoot. If you don't win a National Championship in F-Class Open, it won't be because of the scope. There may be better scopes or at least equivalent scopes but they will probably cost you more than double the cost of this great scope. That makes it a high value in my mind. I would actually pay double if I thought it would give me as much as one more X or one more point in a match but after nearly two years of competition, I'm still happy with my Vortex. I rate the performance of a scope on the long range group size and score and this one works.
